About this ebook

"A heart wrenching forbidden romance. A rockstar you can’t help but love. A strong heroine to admire. And a love meant to be. Scarlett Cole takes you apart and puts you back together again." ~ Carly Phillips, NY Times Bestselling Author

Matt

Loving Izabel Bryson should be the easiest thing in the world. Heck, she’s been the inspiration for at least half a dozen of the songs he’s written for his rock band, Sad Fridays.

He’s loved her for a decade.

But she’s his best friend and fellow-band mate’s little sister, and he promised a decade ago that he’d never put his hands on her.

She can never be his, no matter how much he craves her.

Izabel

Loving Matt Palmer is the most hopeless thing in the world.

The hours she spends working at the Manchester homeless shelter only go so far in distracting her from the painful truth.

He doesn’t want her.

Because she screwed up that awful night two years before when she slept with Matt’s brother. He will never be hers, no matter how much she yearns for him.

When a good deed leads to one bed, and one night of ruthless honesty, everything is laid bare. They belong together, but acting on it will cost them everything.

I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for Scarlett Cole for her book One Day Like This (Excess All Areas Book 1). My review is based on my own opinions, and I was not coerced or compensated for it. Matt Palmer, the lyricist for Sad Fridays has a captivating way with the words he writes and is keeping a big secret from his best friend and bandmate Luke, regarding Luke's sister Izabel. Izabel has moved in with her brother Luke, after leaving a cheating boyfriend and dreadful relationship behind. When a sympathetic Matt comes to Izabel's rescue to save face infront of her ex, will Matt and Izabel give into their true feelings or will they protect others and their hearts from how they truly feel? I liked how the plot stayed true to the genre. It was entertaining, giving me a feeling that I was watching the boys live on stage. I felt like I was there dancing along in the audience. I became emotionally immersed in the story and thought it was well written. The characters took me on a journey and the dynamics of the group added to the book's depth. Matt and Isabel's strength, camaraderie and affection for one another formed the backbone of their relationship, which I admired. Even when a situation with their family and friends didn't go as planned, they remained a steady source of strength for one another. The sex was HOT and steamy. Matt and Jase's nan added alot of humour to the book. I really liked her character. I'd love to say more but I'm afraid to give too much away. Im excited to read the rest of the Excess All Areas series and anything else written by Scarlett Cole. She's the real deal and has a gift in sharing her craft. 5/5*

I was looking forward to this one because Scarlett Cole writes great rockstar romance. I liked how this one is them trying to make their big break. It gives the daily struggles while trying to live while following their dream. It's pretty interesting. This one has plenty of angst as well. A lot going on to hook the reader in. Matt has always had a thing for his best friend and bandmate's little sister. She's off limits, but life keeps on the throwing curve balls for this group. These characters face many crossroads that will impact where their future will lead them. Not gonna lie I gasped a few times where this book went. I really can't wait for the next book to see what path they chose.

It's hard for me to give a bad review but I don't think this book is for me. I like reading sibling's best friend romance but that sibling has to be reasonable which Izabel's brother isn't. I give this book 3.5 stars because I like Izabel and even if I like the idea of brother's best friend and forbidden love of the book, I am annoyed by behaviors of both Izabel's brother and Matt's brother. They both make Matt struggle with his life and I hate it. I also don't like an idea of Izabel's brother for forbidding his bandmates to court her too. I understand his motive but I agree with one of his bandmates that Izabel and Matt have to suffer because of him which is unreasonable because he should know Matt better. They are best friends! Aside from these reasons, the story has nothing intriguing and quite boring. I can't deny that Izabel and Matt have the chemistry but their hidden loves make me feel boring at some points. I hate DNF so I skim reading through instead.

About the author

Scarlett Cole is a contemporary romance author that calls both Toronto, Canada and Manchester, England home. A born city dweller, she periodically quashes the urge to live in the country by hiking up a mountain to remind herself that living away from people would terrify the pants off her.

She believes everybody deserves their love story to be told and loves her heroes on the rough and rugged side…and usually tall (because she married one of those 6ft 6” men you read about in romance!). She’s an A-type personality and Scorpio star sign, so good luck getting her to do anything she doesn’t want to.

When she isn’t writing, she’s happy to talk hot men and expensive shoes while drinking a cold gin and tonic. Don’t bring up olives. As far as Scarlett is concerned, they are the devil’s food. As long as you don’t bring up olives, she’s happy to hear from any time.
